Hero Deputies Save Man On Fire
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has two very courageous deputies on patrol in our area.
HCSO Traffic investigators reported that a 21 year old male was driving north bound on Ella drive at around 11:45pm on 3/20/16. The driver lost control of his Pontiac Grand Am, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The Grand Am immediately burst into flames, with the car becoming engulfed quickly.
Field Training Officer C. Crouch (left) and Probationary Patrol Deputy C. Atkinson (right) from North Patrol, were dispatched to the accident and arrived within minutes. They ran to the vehicle and (with some help form bystanders) pulled the caved-in driver side door open that entrapped the 21 year old.
Deputies Crouch and Atkinson then pulled the victim out of the vehicle while he was still engulfed in flames. They then began to roll him on the ground which extinguished the flames.
The 21 year old was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center by Lifeflight in critical condition.
Deputy C. Crouch and Deputy C. Atkinson both displayed the core values of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, “To protect our citizens with honor and courage.”
