Recently, PCT 4 Deputies S. Stevenson and J. Palla were dispatched to the 2600 block of Arica Lane in Spring in reference to a welfare check on a citizen.

When they arrived they met with an elderly disabled veteran, who advised his air conditioner is not working, and has not been working for over a month.

Both Deputies quickly realized that the veteran did not have the money to fix his broken air conditioner.

Deputy Stevenson and Deputy Palla attempted to contact the veteran's family members for assistance, but they were unable to reach any of them.

Due to the current heat wave with temperatures reaching triple digits, Deputy Stevenson and Deputy Palla took it upon themselves to go purchase a window air conditioner for the veteran with their own money, and even installed the unit in the his bedroom for him.

By the time they left the location our Veteran was sitting in a cool room.

"Deputies Stevenson and Palla's hearts are clearly bigger than their badges" It is an extreme honor to see their compassion and dedication to the community we serve" said Constable Mark Herman.
