Spring ISD Police Teaching Local Agencies Crisis Intervention

This week, Spring ISD Police Officer C. Hunter and Police Officer/PIO M. Toliver are teaching TCOLE Crisis Intervention Training 1850 (CIT) to local law enforcement agencies.
CIT equips officers to understand and better serve those individuals who may be suffering from mental health concerns or who are experience crisis in their life.
Officers through a simulation of what it may be like to have Alzheimer's.
Officers were given tasks such as dialing a number, pour a cup of coffee, putting mail in the mailbox and putting the cap back on a pen, all while having blurred vision, taped hands, rocks in their shoes, and loud music playing in their ears.
Through this activity, officers gain a small insight into just how difficult daily life can be while experiencing a crisis.
