7 Klein ISD Seniors Selected For All-Star Game
Seven standout Klein ISD athletes from all five high schools were hand-selected by local coaches to compete in a bi-state All-Star football game sponsored by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association (GHFCA), a local non-profit organization.
Klein ISD truly set the standard of athletic excellence, with our athletes securing half of the roster, a total of 14 players, from the participating schools in the Greater Houston Area. Each Klein ISD high school was represented in the selection and was eager to test its grit and determination in the competitive game.
“It is an honor for these young men to be selected by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association and participate in the Bayou Bowl football game,” Athletic Director Darby Young said.
“This recognition showcases the talent, commitment, and dedication of the five outstanding high school football programs in Klein ISD and portrays the importance of scholastic athletics.”
The Bayou Bowl is an All-Star Football Game featuring 36 of the best athletes from the Greater Houston Area against 36 of the best athletes from the State of Louisiana.
The proceeds from the game go to scholarships and monetary assistance for outstanding athletes in the Greater Houston Area.
After a hard-fought game, the East Team — consisting of our seven Klein ISD athletes under the leadership of Coach Wade Phillips — obtained victory with a final score of 24-20.
