Lauren Dougherty Honored by State as Heroes for Children Award Recipient
Mrs. Lauren Dougherty, a Klein ISD distinguished parent, district volunteer, alumna, and advocate for public education, was recently named by the Texas State Board of Education as a 2022 Heroes for Children Award winner.
One of only 15 in Texas.
Mrs. Dougherty was also recognized by the Board of Trustees at the September monthly meeting.
The Heroes for Children award honors volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to student learning or demonstrated sustained periods of involvement and support of public education.
Mrs. Dougherty was nominated for her selfless acts of service and support to Klein ISD.
Mrs. Dougherty grew up here in the community and is a proud product of Klein ISD, attending Theiss Elementary, Doerre Intermediate, and graduating from Klein High School.
This dedicated volunteer believes that the success of Klein ISD and its students is inextricably linked to the community’s positive involvement of family and stakeholders.
Mrs. Dougherty is involved with the Brill PTO and partners actively with other Klein ISD schools that do not have a PTO to support their campus endeavors.
She is a passionate advocate for public education and our district, focusing on school funding at the state and local levels.
Mrs. Dougherty actively participates in the Klein Leadership Coalition and many other community groups.
Mrs. Dougherty serves as a deputized voter registrar and shares awareness of how to be an informed voter and active constituent to ensure that our schools and our students’ priorities are represented in our state legislature.
Mrs. Dougherty also served on the district 2022 Bond steering committee, where her insight and forethought were invaluable when recommending to the Board of Trustees a historic bond package, $895.4 million of which was ultimately approved by voters in May 2022.
