Shelters Are In Crisis - Can you help?
A message from MCAS staff-
"American shelters are in crisis mode!
The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is not alone in our need for help from our community!
To date we have over 500 animals in our facility:
305 Adult Dogs
99 Puppies
52 Cats
47 Kittens
Of those we have 4 momma dogs with puppies and 4 momma cats with kittens.
We recognize that times are tough and not everyone is in a position to adopt an animal, but there many other ways to help as our intakes increase and our kennels continue to be full and even doubled up!
We are at a very critical point in being overcapacity and we have to have some kennels open up.
FOSTER! Fostering a shelter animal is a very rewarding experience.
We have kittens and puppies in need as well as adult animals who could use a break from the shelter.
Get to know your foster and use social media in hopes of finding a furever home for your foster(s).
FOSTER FIELD TRIPS! This is a great program where you can take any altered adult dog out for the day, overnite or just for the weekend.
Any amount of time outside of the shelter is beneficial for our shelter pups and you can get to know them in a different environment.
It's also a wonderful opportunity to snap indoor/outdoor pictures to spotlight the pup on social media.
VOLUNTEER! VOLUNTEER! VOLUNTEER!
Our greatest need, with 302 adult dogs, is dog walkers!
As it stands our dogs are maybe getting out every other day.
Can you imagine!?
We have wonderful veteran volunteers that can guide you along after you have done Volunteer Orientation.
Come be a part of the solution, we would love to have you!
