I-45 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study

ne of two in-person public meetings this week to present the latest updates regarding TxDOT’s Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study for Interstate 45 North between Beltway 8 in Harris County and Loop 336 South in Conroe informed residents who attended Tuesday night at the Oak Ridge High School Ninth Grade campus.
A second in-person meeting will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Hochzeit Hall, located at 427 Gentry St. in Spring.
The study should identify solutions to address the existing and future transportation needs along this stretch of the I-45 corridor in order to improve mobility and safety, as well as enhance accessibility/connectivity between transportation modes, according to TxDOT.
In 2015, Commissioner Noack was instrumental in ensuring Montgomery County’s inclusion in the study, with TxDOT agreeing to expand the study north of the Harris-Montgomery County line all the way to Conroe.
The study initially started in 2017 and was expected to be completed by summer 2020.
While Commissioner Noack had pushed for an expedited timeline prior to the start of the study, he is encouraged by the reignited project and its anticipated final presentation by the end of 2023.
Residents who are unable to attend the in-person meetings are encouraged to review the virtual meeting material and take an online survey by clicking this link (Virtual meeting runs through Feb. 3)
